How Being the Wrong Person Can Work

Friday, February 20, 2026 (12:00 PM - 1:00 PM) (CST)

Description

Careers don’t always follow a straight line—and sometimes the experiences that feel the most unrelated end up shaping us the most.

In this edition of How I Did This, we’re joined by Jenny Waltman, Director of Grace Klein Community, as she shares her journey into nonprofit leadership and what she’s learned about stepping into roles you may not feel fully “qualified” for—yet.

Jenny’s path includes being a Samford University graduate, insurance adjuster, bookkeeper, entrepreneur (alongside her husband through Grace Klein Construction), writer, avid reader, and mom to two biological children and many others she loves deeply.

Today, she serves as a servant leader behind the scenes at Grace Klein Community—helping propel vision, build systems, ensure nonprofit compliance, and support advocacy, volunteer engagement, and education around combating food waste and resourcefulness.
