Running VMWare on AWS

Pete Robertson from AWS will be discussing options for migrating virtual machines running on VMware to AWS. He’ll provide an overview of different approaches as well as a deep dive on VMware Cloud on AWS; the solution developed between VMware and AWS to allow native VMware virtual machines to run on EC2 while retaining the familiarity of vCenter for management. Pete will discuss common use cases including migration, disaster recovery, VDI and explain the architecture that allows for cluster elasticity, network extension and live vMotion between on-premises and the cloud.

Pete Robertson is a Solutions Architect with AWS based out of Hunstville, AL. Pete has worked in IT for the past 20 years and has held various roles including software developer, data center architect, network specialist and Director of IT. Pete holds multiple certifications from AWS, VMware and Cisco and uses his expertise to help customers design and build both cloud and hybrid architectures.
