About this event

Dave Gray, CEO of Stoneybrook Ventures, is partnered with Pamlico Capital to acquire one or more B2B, mission-critical, software-as-a-service (SaaS) businesses. Prior to founding Stoneybrook, Dave was CEO of Daxko for over 15 years, a SaaS business serving the health and wellness market. He led the company’s growth from an early-stage startup to the market leader with over 10,000 customers in 68 countries and a team of 350. Additionally, Dave led the execution of 8 acquisitions and 3 separate private equity rounds. Under his leadership, Daxko received considerable attention for its approach to culture, innovation and growth. Three times it was recognized by the Great Place to Work Institute as one of the 50 Best Small & Medium Companies to Work for in America and the company enjoyed 15 straight years of double-digit revenue growth. Additionally, several Daxko alumni became successful entrepreneurs as founders of companies, including AirShip, Boulo, BuildPlane, Compose, Fleetio, GradesFirst, QuantHub, and The Good Kitchen, as well as many others that hold executive leadership roles in local tech companies. Before Daxko, Dave worked for a Silicon Valley startup called Calico Commerce (now part of Oracle) during the Dotcom era of the late 1990s and early 2000s learning some valuable lessons on what to do and what not to do when it comes to leading a software company. Prior to that, he worked in Grant Thornton’s management consulting practice in Chicago. Dave is also the past chairman and current board member of the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham; on the boards of Endeavor, the Birmingham Venture Club, and the Birmingham YMCA; an advisory board member to the Alabama Futures Fund; and an infrequent angel investor in some of Birmingham's more promising tech startups. He’s a graduate of Auburn University with a degree in Management Information Systems. Dave resides in Birmingham with his wife (Susan), 3 kids, and 2 dogs.
