Event Description:

How Exposure Notification Protects User Data Privacy

Data privacy is more important than ever as health data becomes critical in our fight against COVID-19. The GuideSafe exposure notification app was built with this focus in mind.

How can users be sure their personal data is safe? How do users know they can trust a notification is truthful without being invasive? The app takes advantage of the Google and Apple framework that was created with an emphasis on privacy. GuideSafe's exposure notification app is a complex balance of privacy built within the app to protect users and security protections taken to stop bad actors.

Tune in and hear from the development teams behind GuideSafe app, UAB and MotionMobs, to dig into the nuances of protecting user data privacy while fighting COVID-19 in a meaningful way.

Participants:
Emily Hart, moderator, Matt Clark and Taylor Smith from Motion Mobs, and Brian Rivers and Curt Carver from UAB.

MotionMobs and UAB are TechBirmingham member organizations.
