We are currently seeking a Regulatory Initiatives Analyst to join our Regulatory team. This position is responsible for the implementation and oversight of regulatory requirements and strategic initiatives across commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid lines of business as required under federal and state law or as directed by VIVA HEALTH senior management. This position will work collaboratively with both technical and non-technical staff and will ensure consistent processes across all teams. This position works across multiple departments including Information Systems, Provider Services, Customer Service, Appeals & Grievances, Claims, and Health Services.


Bachelor’s Degree
5+ years’ experience with health care regulatory, programming, or operations responsibilities in the health insurance industry or health care setting
Experience with APIs and EDI transactions
Articulate and able to communicate effectively (both written and oral) with employees at all levels of the organization, as well as with key individuals outside the organization
Strong strategic orientation with the ability to develop plans and deliver expected results
Ability to work closely with the Information Systems team to identify system or set-up issues and find workable paths to resolution

Ability to manage multiple priority initiatives concurrently
Expert analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and lead others’ work within a team environment with multiple priorities
Ability to effectively interface with management at all levels and external contacts
Demonstrated critical thinking skills
Ability to translate health care regulations into technical specifications
Experience assessing technical resources required for complex problems
Demonstrated experience and proficiency with MS Office suite
Demonstrated ability to gain proficiency with Adobe Acrobat Pro
Advanced research capabilities
Demonstrated expertise in facilitating diverse teams
Ability to work flexible hours and in-person at the Birmingham office as needed

Master’s Degree
3+ years’ experience working with state and/or federal regulatory agencies
Experience in SQL, FHIR/HL7 standards, EHRs, Tableau
Experience as a liaison between information technology and other departments within an organization
Project management experience or understanding of project management methodology
Programming and/or claims experience within a health care setting
