FOR USE BY IT AND HSIS ONLY:  The Systems Analyst will support and enhance systems across the UAB Information Technology enterprise. This individual will be responsible for the operational effectiveness of systems, future direction and use of various systems, servers and applications. UAB IT Infrastructure and Operations provides enterprise-quality hosting services for servers, applications, databases, and cloud services for UAB IT and distributed campus units. Infrastructure Operations - The Infrastructure Operations team provides tier 3 support of UAB IT Infrastructure services, as well as code migration services, check printing, and scheduled job administration for central IT services. This team also provides monitoring and incident response for UAB IT services. Infrastructure Operations business functions are numerous with a variety of responsibilities. Analyzing and problem solving are two key components that compose the Analyst role. Areas such as system operations, application operations, enterprise process management, and system administration cast a wide net for opportunity and challenge to arise daily.


1. Perform systems process analysis, design, and simulation across multiple platforms and/or cross-function in business areas.

2. Perform process improvement and re-engineering with an understanding of technical problems and solutions as they relate to the current and future business environment.

3. Develop innovative IT solutions for risky and demanding business situations.

4. Function as a self-directed team member providing technical support of servers and business processes.

5. Function as a specialist in a particular aspect of systems analysis or as in integrator of analysis and design across technology platforms, business areas, or locationsAssist or coordinate the migration and maintenance of planned weekend changes.

6. Support implementing OS and security patching as well as troubleshooting issues that my affect the successful completion of the patch cycle.

7. Provide VMware infrastructure support and assist in the building of both Windows and Linux servers.

8. Troubleshooting, debugging, automation, alerting, incident management, problem management, and event management inclusive to the Infrastructure Services supported systems.

9. Perform other duties as assigned.

(Annual Salary:  $63,875  -  $103,800)



Associate's degree in Information Systems or a related field and four (4) years of related experience required. Work experience may substitute for education requirement.  The ideal candidate for this position will possess a varied degree of experience and the ability to make decisions that affect the integrity of the UAB IT Infrastructure. The ability to follow established process and procedure is paramount to the success of the role as well as gaining insight to root cause to recommend changes to fix or enhance the processes. This position will be scheduled Thursday through Sunday working 10 hour shifts.

The candidate will also have in-depth of knowledge in Linux, VMWare, and Windows.
