IT Project Manager

Information Technology

General Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the IT Manager, this position will assist with the management of projects, evaluate end-user technology system needs and recommend, develop, implement and support appropriate systems to meet these needs. Coordinating activities as the project liaison, identifying appropriate resources needed, and developing schedules to ensure timely completion of the project. Must quickly develop a broad understanding of the programs and initiatives of the customer and must be able to set priorities in work assignments. Must project a professional demeanor, utilizing oral and written communication skills of the highest quality. Will develop requirements from a project’s inception to its conclusion for an IT subject matter area, and assist other project members with analysis, evaluation, and with the preparation of recommendations for system improvements, optimization, development, and/or maintenance efforts.


Essential Job Functions:

1. Organize meetings to discuss and review project operational strategies.

2. Manage project execution to ensure adherence to budget, schedule, and scope. Develop or update

project plans for information technology projects including information such as project objectives,

technologies, systems, information specifications, schedules, funding, and staffing. Monitor or track

project milestones and deliverables.

3. Develop business relationships with colleagues to meet customer service levels and serve as the liaison

between business and technical aspects of projects.

4. Plans project stages & assess business implications for each stage. Monitor progress to assure

deadlines, standards, and cost targets are met. Determine the need for adjustment in strategy if targets

are off.

5. Confer with project personnel to identify and resolve problems. Submit project deliverables, ensuring

adherence to quality standards. Prepare project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing

information and trends. Direct or coordinate activities of project personnel.

6. Establish and execute a project communication plan. Assign duties, responsibilities, and spans of

authority to project personnel.

7. Assist in defining requirements and writing of bids and RFP's. After responses are opened, ensure all

requirements are met and lead the process to determine the lowest responsible and responsive vendor.

8. Work with users to get the necessary information on quotes for capital purchases. Create the necessary

paperwork to purchase the capital items and input the data into SAP. Follow up until the items are

received and invoiced.

9. Use appropriate project management tools and techniques to track project performance.

10. Adhere to Board confidentiality and security requirements.

11. Demonstrate a high level of integrity and professionalism.

12. Perform other duties as assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field required.


Experience:

5+ years of Information Technology progressive experience developing, implementing and/or supporting fully integrated business systems for a utility, service, or manufacturing operation. 1-2 years of project/program management experience. Knowledgeable and Proficient in project management techniques & software tools. Experience in technology planning, risk management, and/or change management.

Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills. Solid working knowledge of the Microsoft desktop/server/Office365 environments, SAP, storage area networks (SAN), and voice/data IP networking.

 Proven experience with business and technical requirements, analysis, and business modeling

 Knowledge of project management methodologies and systems, especially as implemented in an information

technology environment

 Interpersonal/human relations skills

 Experience with project planning, scheduling, tracking, and reporting

 Ability to maintain confidentially

 Ability to interact effectively with department managers and supervisors

 Ability to establish priorities, demonstrate discipline and independent judgment

 Ability to lead teams effectively both through structured coaching and delivering by example

 Experience in building and launching a new product or service from the ground up and/or experience with

external facing production systems preferred

 Has worked with or implemented an ERP system is a plus

 Knowledge of information technology applications, processes, software, and hardware

 PMP preferred
