Richard holds a Ph.D. in Polymer Science from North Carolina State University and a B.Sc. Her work builds students' STEM confidence\, data and digital fluency\, and workforce readiness through evidence-based\, distance-accessible learning. She leads Project RAISE and the Magic City Data Collective\, recognized with a Governor's Work-Based Learning Best Practices Award and a 2024 International Economic Development Council Excellence Silver Award. Her outreach helps K 12 students envision STEM careers and connects undergraduates with local partners for projects that build data and leadership skills.Her honors include UAB's 2021 Provost's Transformative Online Course Award\, the 2023 College of Arts and Sciences Dean's Award for Excellence in Teaching\, and Business Alabama's 2024 Top Women in Tech recognition. She serves on the PARCA Roundtable and local STEM education advisory groups.A Birmingham native\, Rast trained at the School of American Ballet on a Ford Foundation scholarship before earning her Ph.D. in Computational Physics at UAB.
